week 13-Field Trip to Web 2.0 Conference

This is a day we have a web 2.0 trip. In this exhibition of web 2.0 expo I learn about:
Xtra-normal creates a 3d program. You don’t need a digital camera and desktop software. You can get an art director, a 3D animator and a distribution channel for free. You cast your actors, choose your set, and write your message/movie for your own movie. The character is set already. You just make a character more fun and make your own story by the setting character. You can publish the movie, send out e-mails, embed the movie in your own web page or post it to your social networking profiles such blogger, face book, my space, igoogle, and so on. You can make a little movie; build an audience around the world. It is inspire me that we can use web 2.0 to communicate our story, knowledge, business, and so on. The social network is not only in 2d expression and it can upgrade to 3d expression. It is such as You Tube.
this is tube demo that i found after trip

A new web page free in the Zude, under the Zude you can create your own web page or use the web templates. The templates customize the look and feel of your web presence. In addition, you can add tag to your Zude page. You also can take images from anywhere such ad desktop, other website, image, viewers, and drop them on the web page.
I learn more about wiki from a Wikipatterns speech. Wiki is not only collaboration, but also Wiki can combine Wiki and blog. The Wiki in the finance department is very useful for stuff. The Wiki also can have film productions. Wiki has a big tip for personal spaces, useful contacts and charts. Wiki is great for a business.
In the social text, I see that the Rss feed can add in your web site. You can use the social text to share your personal and business web site.

week12- Interface Design Critique

Interface Design Critique
On Information Design
http://www.edtech.vt.edu/edtech/id/index.html
Who are the users? –This is a design shop which has many lessons in effective teaching. The most users are designers and educators.
Information chunk: In the main page, there are five main sections that are evaluation, assessment, process, strategies, and development. Those information is arrange very organize.
Relevance: The graphics is let people to feel comfortable. The background is light green and color of main page is brown tone which make harmonious. The reading is ok, the white texts are on brown background that makes text readable.

Labeling: the text of navigation is brown and the color of navigation background is light green. It is readable. Each title of the text is white color on the different colors. It is all make the text which is readable.

Consistency: The navigation is use drop-menu which is functional for user. On the other hand, it makes users hard to find the location of navigation and users may not know what the web will be.
Detail: The content of page, there are several text links to link. It makes users who are able to link the related page immediately. It is good for the users. In the general I do not think that the links are too many.
On Interactivity
Orientation
: The navigation is under the headline and the small drop-menu which is not interactivity for the users. But, under the main menu each bottom links the sub-page directly which is in interactivity.
Navigation:
The navigation does not have main categories and it is hard to find the navigation. The each bottom links the page, but the sub-page is hard to find a bottom to link back to main page.
Functionality: This website is very functional for designers and educators. The users get a lot of resources.
On Screen Design
Attractive: The first impress of the web site, I feel that it is not active, but it is harmonious. Some texts are heavy and the layout is simple.
Resolution: The size of web-site is frozen. The users do not need to scroll down the web page.
Color: The main color is brown tone and the brown color is nature color. The background of full screen is light screen. Green and brown are nature colors which are comfortable for users. There are some titles are highlight. It makes the titles stand up. In the general, I think there are too many colors in the main page. Even though it does not make the users to feel uncomfortable, it still makes the main page outstanding.
Layout: The layouts are simple and formal. The headline is on top. The navigation is under headline. The content is fully on the page and on the center which is easily to find information. It may main purpose of the web site.
Readability: The texts and fonts are not hard to read. The fonts of texts are same and the sizes of the texts are most same. In the general it is readable. It is good that the title is use the big size. It has a difference between the texts of the content.

week11-Psychology of Everyday Things-nice design

Nice design every day things
A good design has to consist of the shape, form. The material and usability also have to be considered. A real a good design it can be use in different century and it will be a modal of the future design.

I found two designs which I think there are a good design.

Sacco ’bean bag’ chair
one is “Sacco ‘bean bag’ chair by Zanotta, the bean bag adapted itself perfectly to any body shape and weight, and toward the end of the 1960s it represented the progression of an-authoritarian ideas into furniture. Traditional domestic and seating forms were thrown to the wind and replaced by the leather bean bag, filled with little expanded polystyrene beads. Lounging and relaxing became the new domestic styles.

Bird kettle

Michael Graves is a leading representative of American postmodernism, which rehabilitated the figurative that had bee displace the abstract. He believed that the rejection of all cultural and historical links and les to alienation and loss of imagination. He has applied the philosophy to the creation of very day objects. His whistling bird kettle was created in 1985 for Alessi. It was bought by over half- a- million people, making the arrival of fun design in the home.

I think these two creations that bring the people to a new techniques and thoughts to domestic styles. I also think that a great designer have to very update herself or himself. Therefore, he or she can create very update thing to humans.

Week8-Work with group “A Whole New Mind By Daniel Pink “

Since I checked ilearn and knew about that we had a group work, I send an e-mail with one of our classmate. Even thought I have a difficulty to find a msn to connect my member of group, I still figure out the way to connect my member of group. Finally, they are able to add some ideas and works in the group work. Following is our group will preset ideas and contents.

“A whole new mind in a high concept and high touch age.

Meaning-one of the Six Senses:

There are two practical, whole-minded ways for individuals, families, and business to begin the search for meaning: start taking spirituality seriously and start taking happiness seriously.

First, We ought to take spirituality seriously because of its demonstrated ability to improve our lives- something that might be even more valuable when so many of us have satisfied our material needs.

Second, Dalai Lama believes the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness. Happiness can not be pursued; it must ensue. What does happiness derive from? According to Dr. Martin E. P. Seligman, a professor at the university of Pennsylvania and founder of the "positive psychology" movement, happiness derives from a mix of factors. Part of it depends on biology. But all of us can learn how to reach the upper portions of our individual range-where happiness can ensue. Others contribute to happiness are engaging in satisfying work, avoiding negative events and emotions, being married, and having a rich social network. Also important are gratitude, forgiveness and optimism.

What methods can we start the search for meaning?

  • Say Thanks: Feelings of gratitude enhance well-being and deepen one's sense of meaning. Two variations on this them are the birthday gratitude list and the gratitude one-a-day.
  • Take The 20-10 Test: ask yourself, if you inherited $20 million, no strings attached, would you spend your days the way you spend them now? If you know you had at most ten years to live, would you stick with your current Job? If the answer is no, that ought to tell you something.
  • Measure Your Spirit: try to do two self-assessments that help measure qualities and attitudes associated with Meaning. First is called the Spiritual Transcendence Scale (more info: www.evergreen.loyola.edu/~rpiedmont/STSR.htm). Second is called the Index of Core Spiritual Experience( more info: www.tinyurl.com/5sz7u).
  • Read These Books:
    • Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
    • Authentic Happiness by Martin E. P. Seligman
    • Flow by Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi
    • What Should I Do With My Life? by Po Bronson
    • Mindfulness by Ellen Langer
    • The Art of Happiness by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler, M.D.
  • Visit a Labyrinth: resources are
  • Picture Yourself at Ninety”

Week7-Reflection-Learning by my own

It is a long night work. Even thought I miss some classmates’ presentation about some web 2.0, I read some of classmates’ blog. It is helpful that I made some up, and then I am able to create my frame in voicethread. Voicethread is very easy to use and create a voice over video in several mins. I spend the time to really play it. I try to record the voice and type texts. In some cases, I consider that it is better just using the voice, but some are not. Fortunately, I can make it by voicethread.

The new technology is so image. I can use that in so many different ways. The artists usually are able to use the web 2.0 as a gallery to show their works. The businessmen are able to use the web 2.0 to promote their products. The withers are able to write their expression by the web 2.0. The educators are able to communicate their students by the web 2.0. The students can turn in their assignment or communicate to their instructors via the web 2.0. Web 2.0 connects the all web-community. Let people are not just alone in the society. The Network is existing in our real word.

week3/Reflection / Learning in the Digital Age

In the article " Learning in Digital Age" by John Seeley Brown points out that the way of learning is changed. "Learning is a remarkably social process”. In the digital age, the learners learn, create, and respond the information via the complex media. The new technology is instead of the traditional textbook. In the past most teaching methods were based on a lecture basis. We must move far beyond the traditional view of teaching as delivery of information. The Internet and other technologies help students and educators who reach their highest potential. Technology and new media support learning.

The way students learn has shifted, so educators have felt the need to adapt.

I think in the digital age, the students learn the new way of learning. The new technology changes the learning environment. The student and educator need to adapt the way of learning and teaching.

week2/Connectives

Learning in a digital age

In the twenty years, Siemens maintains that technology has changed the living and the way of communication and learning. Siemens provides a significant concept in the learning which guides me to deeply concern about the learning in a digital age.

. Learning can be occurred in many ways by network.

.Learning is all about knowledge. “Knowledge is “out there”, “knowledge is interpreted”, and knowledge is constructed”. Knowledge is in the community.

As a learner, in my point of view, the connectivism puts emphasis on learner’s abilities. The learners are able to apply their knowledge for the community; on the other hand, the learners can get knowledge from the community. The learner and community have a close connection in the digital age.

week1/web 2.0

It seems fun. I have ever heard Del.icio.us, Wiki, face book, flickr and social Networking from discussion in the other classes, but I never make a connection with them. Right now, I can make a connection, they are web 2.0. The web 2.0 is a web-based communication platform and it provides and facilitates creativity, sharing, discussion between users.
